About Us

I started in the Beauty Industry when I was 18 years old, after deciding I didn’t want to go to university, I thought I had better learn a skill so I could start working. I chose to study a BTEC National Diploma in Beauty Therapy Sciences at Selby College, and that’s where my love of beauty and massage began.

Whilst I was at college, I was lucky enough to get a job working in a hotel spa in York on weekends, this gave me much needed experience in the industry, and it's where I discovered my love of massage therapy. Once I had completed my course, I had the opportunity to work in the spa full time. Working in the spa was a wonderful experience and I loved the atmosphere, but I found massaging for most of the day wasn’t for me. I then moved to a busy salon in Market Weighton, where I developed my skill in beauty treatments and stayed for nearly 8 years. During this time I pursued my interest in massage further and studied for a BSc (Hons) in Sports Therapy, which has given me an immense amount of knowledge about the human anatomy, injuries and how to treat them.

In 2019 I decided to branch out on my own and opened The Beauty Spot at the end of the October. Since opening the salon, I have trained in luxurious Mary Cohr and Guinot facials, Advanced Waxing, Million Dollar Facial Treatment and Bio Sculpture Gel, which has allowed me to add to my extensive Treatment Menu.

In 2022 I completed my Level 3 Award in Education and Training, which qualified me to teach beauty and massage courses; this is something I had wanted to do for several years. The Beauty Spot Training Academy launched in January 2023, however, because I am lucky to be kept so busy by my clients, I just didn't have the time to run the training academy alongside doing treatments in the salon, so I had to put this venture on hold. Training is something I am passionate about and if time allows, is something I would like to revisit in future.

In 2024 I proudly introduced Guinot Hydradermie facial treatments to the salon. It is an honour to be able to partner with such a prestigious brand. I instantly fell in love with these facials, and clients love them too. After nearly 5 years based in Chapmangate, in June 2024 I relocated to Secrets Hair and Beauty in Market Place - a new and exciting chapter for The Beauty Spot.

Mary Cohr

We are proud to be a registered Mary Cohr skincare salon. Mary Cohr was created in 1973, and uses aromatherapy essential oils, plant extracts and Biotechnology to deliver exceptional results; the formulas are Paraben free and the plant extracts are all natural. Many of the products available for purchase are in glass jars so are more easily recycled than plastics. Mary Cohr does not test on animals.

Million Dollar Facial

A British brand with clinically proven products and treatments. Million Dollar brings luxury to Advanced Skincare Treatments. A number of products in the range are Vegan friendly.

CND

For our nail treatments we use CND Vinylux weekly polish and Shellac gel polish, and we have a wide range of colours to choose from! We also stock CND’s multi-award-winning cuticle oil and Daily Keratin Treatment. Vegan friendly.

Bio Sculpture & Evo Gel

With a 5-star Safety Rating, Vegan products and formulations to boost nail health, Bio and Evo gel can transform even the weakest of nails.

Sienna X

For our tanning treatments we use the amazing Sienna X manual tan. It has won numerous awards and gives you a gorgeous, natural looking glow. All our professional and retail Sienna X products are Cruelty free, Vegan friendly, Gluten free and Paraben free.

Sienna X is also our chosen luxury wax brand for waxing. We use the gorgeous peppermint scented hot wax for a more comfortable intimate waxing experience.

Dermalux

We use Dermalux for our LED Phototherapy facials. Dermalux is the Five-time Winner of Best Treatment at The Aesthetics Awards and were also voted Best UK Manufacturer 2018. We love Dermalux LED Phototherapy as it’s a results-driven, non-invasive and effective treatment for a variety of skin conditions.

Nouveau Lashes

For our Lash Lift, we use the famous LVL by Nouveau Lashes. Nouveau are dedicated to being a Cruelty free brand, and use ingredients which enhance lash health and strength, whilst minimising the risk of damage to your eyelashes.
